There are numerous Disney World treats I dream about each night. There is something delicious at every park. From Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom to all of the Disney hotels in the Disney Springs area. The food is AMAZING.
We all know that Walt Disney World is a magical place for the young and the young at heart. But did you also know that some of the most unique food and drink can be found here, too? One of the smartest things about the parks is that there really is something for everyone. My kids go crazy for the Mickey Mouse ice cream bars and of course, Dole Whips. This yumminess is not just for the kiddos, though!
On my most recent trip, I started scoping out the Disney World treats parents would love. These are those dishes and drinks kids tend to wrinkle their noses at or that they are too young to legally enjoy. These are the treats you don’t have to share! Yes!
My favorite Disney World treats are ones worth the splurge of calories, cost, or both. Sometimes they are well-known and beloved, and others are a bit more hidden. While your children hunt for the hidden Mickeys, you can hunt for the Disney World treats that will set your taste buds on fire. The only question you have to answer is which one will you taste first?
6 Disney World Treats Worth the Splurge
Poutine
Location: Epcot (Canada), Le Cellier
What happens when you merge French fries, cheese curds and brown gravy? It’s called Poutine. You can head north to Quebec or other places in Canada, or you can head to the sunshine state and find it in Epcot’s World Showcase at Canada’s Le Cellier restaurant. They don’t just have Poutine on the menu, they have 3 versions! The biggest splurge is the Bacon-Cheddar Poutine, which includes world-renowned Neuske’s applewood-smoked bacon.
Reservations are required at Le Cellier, which is a signature dining restaurant.
Kitchen Sink Sundae
Location: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beaches Club Resort
Sure, you can eat a burger and sandwich at this delightful little restaurant, but you really come for the ice cream. You scream. I scream. We all scream for a Kitchen Sink Sundae. The shakes, floats, and sundaes are all delicious, but the real Disney World treat showstopper is the Kitchen Sink Sundae.
It includes scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, and mint chocolate chip ice cream smothered with every single topping they have in the shop. They say this sundae feeds four people, but who are “they”? Eat it with however many people you want. I’m not telling. Bonus, you can walk here from EPCOT.
Baked Lobster Mac n’ Cheese
Location: Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Eight Spoon Café
Eight Spoon Café only sells deliciously cheesy baked pasta…8 kinds at last count. For an indulgent and hearty snack or meal, dig into this bowl of goodness.
The dish counts as a snack on the Disney Dining Plan. However, since it’s so rich and creamy, it can totally be eaten as an entrée. Not a huge fan of lobster? Try the Baked Three Cheese Pasta plain or topped with shrimp or pulled pork.
Adult Dole Whips
Location: Pineapple Promenade, EPCOT (limited availability times)
Friends, this ain’t your kid’s Dole Whip. With the same frosty deliciousness as the original, but with the spiciness of Parrot Bay rum added over the top…it’s magnificent! Your taste buds are in for a treat. Just be sure to drink responsibly, of course!
You can only find this treat in a few spots and at certain festivals. I found this special concoction at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival and at the Pineapple Promenade in the World Showcase. You can also find it during the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. If you don’t happen to be visiting Walt Disney World during these fantastic festivals, I’ve been told that the Halfpipe at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort has a pretty decent version.
Carrot Cake Cookie
Location: Trolley Car Treats, Disney’s Hollywood Studios
This specialty treat was revamped a couple years ago (Why, Disney? Why?) And although I am never a fan of changing something that’s not broke, the new version is pretty good, too. This cookie takes two slices of carrot cake and slaps some cream cheese icing in between.
It’s more like a whoopie pie than a cookie. I especially love the touch of cinnamon they add to both the cookie and the icing.
Tonga Toast
Location: Kona Café and Captain Cook’s, Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Since I’ve never been to Samoa, I had never heard about this awesome breakfast treat. And now I can’t get enough. Tonga Toast. It’s like French toast on steroids. Made from gigantic sourdough bread stuffed with bananas, it’s rolled in cinnamon and sugar and served with your choice of meat.
The portion is gigantic and can definitely serve two people. You can find this entrée during breakfast at Kona Cafe, which is a sit down restaurant. If you don’t have time to waste, head to the to-go restaurant, Captain Cook’s. Their portion costs half as much, too.
What is your favorite adult treat at Disney World?
I am a home cook that does things my way. In my kitchen, I make breakfast, pack lunches, prepare snacks, and cook dinner. During the week, we eat real food that is homemade, organic, and local. On the weekends we do explore more of our local restaurants. I bake my own bread, juice fresh oranges every other day, and make my own kombucha and other weekly favorites.
You so have me missing Disney World! I’ve never tried the Kitchen Sink Sundae but it’s on my Disney bucket list 🙂 I’ve also never heard of the lobster mac and cheese at Animal Kingdom. I can’t wait to try that!
Let’s hope you get to try them all soon and the parks are filled with laughter! Stay healthy.
