how good is the popcorn from annie's organic snacks

If you’re looking for a winter escape or planning to do the HITS tricamp, 12/19-21/14, or one of their races, 1/10-11/15, you will love Naples, Florida.  We have been several times and are going back in early 2015.  I did an article from one of our trips about what a great vacation AND triathlon training ground it is, plus gave you things to do and our favorite places to eat and shop.  I thought it might be time to do an update on Naples, as I found a few more favorites for Food & Fun…

  1. The sunsets in Naples are nothing short of spectacular, so why not get some of the best views out on the water and take a sunset cruise.  Sweet Liberty offers a 2-hour catamaran cruise that passes through the canals, so you can see all the gorgeous homes while you’re at it, before heading out for open waters…

It’s hard to beat a Naples Florida sunset…

  2. We hear HobNob, on Fifth Avenue, is a new hot spot in town.  Has anyone been?  They have a large bar and offer Amercian eclectic food with seafood and steak.
  3. If you like Mediterranean food, try bah bah! Persian Bistro on Fifth Avenue.  Care to try a saffron lemon grass martini or apricot ice cream?
  4. Continental, a steakhouse, gastro pub, and craft bar, has replaced Handsome Harry’s on 3rd Street.  It’s owned by the same group that owns Campiello’s, so I’m sure it’s really nice.  They say it’s NY steakhouse meets 1920’s Parisian Bistro…
  5. A fun restaurant to take the kids would be the USS Nemo, a submarine-themed restaurant complete with porthole windows.
  6. If you want a taste of where the locals go, including our friends who live there, check out Grouper & Chips.  It’s been around for over 21 years, so they must be doing something right.  I don’t think I have to describe the cuisine, do I?

  7. If you have kids (this includes the big kid) with you who like trains, head over to the Naples Train Museum, Naples Depot Museum, and the adjacent Lionel Train Museum.  They’re filled with Americana and you can even ride a train that circles the grounds.
  8. If Third Street and Fifth Street don’t have enough shopping for you or you crave Gucci or Saks, head on over to the Waterside Shops.  It’s a really upscale outdoor mall that even has mists for keeping you cool on a hot, humid day, plus several very nice restaurants.

We hope this gives you tons of ideas for visiting Naples and that you have a great race or vacation.  And, don’t forget to check out the original Naples Food & Fun – tons of good stuff especially for you triathletes…
