The Food in Omaha
Omaha has been featured in such publications as the New York Times as a wonderful place to eat and we would all agree. There is something for everyone, every taste, and every wallet. As an Old Market resident, I tend not to wander from here, so here is my list of where you can find me this weekend with one change – Saturday night we will be at the Boiler Room Restaurant and I am hoping to try out one of my favorite local chef and James Beard Foundation Award Semi-Finalist, Paul Kulik’s, newest spot Via Farina as well.
This is also my birthday weekend, so hubby will also be making me his famous waffles, as well. You can find my favorites on TravelingMom.com as I restaurant hop over a weekend. But, I know I’m not the only one who loves the Old Market, so here are Jamie’s picks from The Kitchenarium.
But, don’t think that the Old Market District is all there is to dining. There are so many places to eat all over the city…
If you are looking to dine Al Fresco, Kim from Oh My! Omaha, has many suggestions. She also has an introduction to our area Food Trucks.
Gretchen, from Odyssey Through Nebraska, mentions a few favorites from around town in her Delicious Delice, European Dining. Then, check out a downtown favorite, Block 16 or if you’re really craving BBQ, we have it at Smoking Jays.
Finally, if you’re looking for sweet treats, Julie from Family Fun In Omaha suggests you check out these ice cream spots to cool down and Kim from Oh My! Omaha has all the places you need to eat a cupcake.
Fun Things to do in Omaha
One of the reasons my husband and I moved to this wonderful city was because it has one of the most well-endowed arts’ communities around. The local community has made sure that there were plenty of visual and performing arts for all. On top of that, we have amazing outdoor spaces and a variety of other exciting fun things to do, including the #1 Zoo in the world. But don’t just take my word for it, check out what the local experts recommend…
Nicole from Mommy Saves Money lets you in on Free Summer Events in Omaha and many other activities going on while you are here!
Julie from Family Fun In Omaha has many suggestions of things to do if you are visiting Omaha with kids. She even lets you in on where kids can eat free.
Kim from Oh My! Omaha has all things fun and free in the Old Market, which is my stomping ground and favorite place to hang out.
And DO NOT forget to visit our Zoo. Gretchen from Odyssey Through Nebraska gives us Henry Doorly Zoo from A to Z.
No matter where you choose to eat or what you choose to do in our great city, have an amazing time and enjoy what we have to offer. Hopefully, we’ll see you at the ballpark and at the pool!
I am a home cook that does things my way. In my kitchen, I make breakfast, pack lunches, prepare snacks, and cook dinner. During the week, we eat real food that is homemade, organic, and local. On the weekends we do explore more of our local restaurants. I bake my own bread, juice fresh oranges every other day, and make my own kombucha and other weekly favorites.
