We know that each trifamily is different and we know the importance of sharing. So, we wanted to take some time and tell you about a typical Saturday morning in a triathlete house during training season. For all of us triwives, this is a way of life that we support and like to make part of our family lifestyle. Over the next few weeks, we will share with you how triathlon training looks in our homes and we would love to hear about what it looks like in yours. So, share all you trisupporters!!!
Jodi starts us off with a typical Saturday morning at her house……
I LOVE SATURDAYS!!! (I’m actually shouting those words). They are our standing “date day” of sorts….the most regular, consistent time we have together each week. See, we both have full-time jobs and I travel a lot during the week, so these days give us the opportunity to reconnect and find out what we’ve missed in each other’s lives. The kids are grown AND out of the house, so the day is just ours……
The day starts out with an early 6:30 am rise from our snugly bed – you don’t know how true this is in winter as we live in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania – to get dressed quickly and head to a neighboring town’s YMCA for a swim workout… usually The Big Swim Workout of the week. I “pose as coach” (see earlier article) and help time his workout.
Then, we head back home, but first stop at a local diner for breakfast on the way. By diner, I mean a real diner. They just recently took the juke boxes off each table and replaced them with one big one. We are considered such regulars that we seat ourselves and the waitresses bring our drinks without having to order – me, I get decaf, and my trihubby gets an OJ and chocolate milk!
After our leisurely brunch and catching up with the week’s happenings, it’s home to tackle the rest of the day. For me that means chores that have been neglected all week while we both work full-time, and reading or gardening, my two favorite pastimes. For him, it is literally “whatever” and a light bike ride. We meet up again for dinner…and sometimes a movie. It may not be exciting, but it’s our day to be together and I love it!

For me my boyfriend works retail, so actually he works Saturday (and I work mon-fri) WHICH IS AWESOME because for the first time ever I have the whole Saturday to myself to get my long bike and outdoor swim in without my significant other complaining!
Figures that’s what you would consider a great way to spend a Saturday alone…..Hope you had a great birthday and are staying dry!
