Salmon Chowder is perfect for the fall and winter months when it’s nice to cozy up inside by the fire on cold nights or rainy days.

What is Chowder?

Chowder is a soup that can be made with several different ingredients.

It varies greatly depending on what part of the United States or Canada you’re in, but it commonly shares some similar characteristics across borders: A chowder’s broth has milk or cream added to make it more rich and flavorful; seafood like shrimp, clams, scallops are usually used as well as potatoes for thickness.

It was created during The Great Depression when people were struggling to get by so they needed something easy to make from scraps that wouldn’t cost much money.

Nowadays chowder has been adapted for different cultures with each recipe varying slightly depending on the ingredients available or what tastes best at home!

What to serve with salmon chowder?

You could serve the creamy seafood soup of Salmon Chowder with its traditional accompaniments like oyster crackers, toasted sourdough bread slices or croutons for an added crunch!

If you’re looking for something more savory, try serving this soup with cheddar biscuits (like these!), pretzel croissants (which are perfect dipped in melted butter), or even focaccia garlic toast like they do at Panera Bread!

A fresh, crunchy salad always pairs well with a bowl of soup as well.

Can I use canned salmon in place of fresh fish in salmon chowder?

The best way to make a hearty and healthy chowder is with the freshest ingredients. Canned salmon is not recommended in place of fresh fish in this recipe, because it does not deliver similar flavors or textures.
