The weather heated up here in New England today, but it didn’t scare me and my new workout buddy (mom) off from taking another beautiful power walk.  This time we headed into town.

We started on the Hospital Hill Rail Trail Spur with a view of Smith College and the hills.

I am used to Texas and Nebraska walks and runs, which are pretty flat…but here, not so much.  We go down and we go up and then repeat all the way into town.  I have to admit, though, it feels pretty good to hurt a little from the hills when getting fit at 46!

By the time we wrapped up our walk, it was lunch time and we headed out to the driving range.  Yes, I said driving range.  Thank goodness my father, who is in the best shape ever, loves to head out to the range with his buddy, Bob.  And, luckily, this has led to the find of the best lobster rolls ever. SERIOUSLY!

It was clean food and no fuss.  The lobster was done with no mayonnaise, just light seasoning, which allowed the sweet lobster to shine through.  We enjoyed crisp french fries and vinegar and life was good.

Once we returned home, it was time to get to work to again, loading the rental van to drop off second twin, Sydney, at college on Thursday.

Packing up the car makes me sad for two reasons – the obvious of moving my daughter to college – but also that it’s a reminder of my husband getting hit on his bike.  He can’t help us load up due to residual issues from his injuries and he just has to stand by watching….He was a great watcher, smiling at us, but made no comments!  Despite this, today I found some good in it all.  I got a great upper body workout loading the van with Sydney!

Well, we are off on another road trip tomorrow to Saratoga Springs in New York.  The hotel has a great workout room and pool, so looking forward to maybe lifting some real weights instead of boxes and my hubby can hit the pool.  Can’t believe it’s been a week since I have had that opportunity.

Thursday will be bittersweet as we move Sydney into her dorm at Skidmore College and officially become empty nesters….
